About Me
Dr. İlhami Soykan Barlas was born in 1977 in Moda, Istanbul. He graduated from Kadıköy Anatolian High School and Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. He completed his specialization in general surgery at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in 2008 and earned the title of General Surgery Specialist.
He went to Scotland twice in 2006-2007 and received advanced laparoscopic surgery training. In 2009, Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Training and Research Hospital Burn Center was awarded with a ‘Certificate of Commendation’ by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey for his contributions to the establishment and work.
After completing his compulsory service at Kastamonu İnebolu State Hospital between 2009-2011, he resigned from the public sector and returned to Istanbul to work in the private sector. He has been working as a kidney transplant and general surgery specialist in Florence Nightingale Hospitals Group since 2013. Since 2017, he has been working as an academician at Demiroğlu Bilim University Faculty of Medicine, as an Assistant Professor. He has more than 20 articles published in national and international journals on general surgery and kidney transplantation, and more than 30 papers presented in national and international congresses.
He has worked as a book editor and chapter writer on kidney transplantation, as well as chapter authors in various surgical books. Dr. Soykan Barlas was awarded the title of “Associate Professor of General Surgery” in 2020. He is married and has a son.
He has been serving as the Director of Kidney Transplantation Center at Bahceşehir University Medical Park Göztepe Hospital since April 2022.
